Spanish arquitecture at the MOMA

We went today to see the exhibit on Spanish arquitecture at the MOMA. We were surprised by how cool our country is. It really seems like a playground for arquitects all over the world that come to experiment. And we are getting some wonders out of the deal. The NY Times has a cool article and slideshow about it here. But we left with a big doubt. Why there was nothing by Calatrava?
Incluso Torrevieja, Alicante.. (que yo sólo soy capaz de relacionarla con los super apartamentos que regalaban en el 1,2,3... tiene cosas alucinantes. Uff)

Battle in Heaven

So I think this is one of the worst movies I have seen in my life. But all critics seem to love it. Can someone explain me why? Maybe the fatty sex was just too much for me. Not sure...
When we left the Angelika everyone was like... "what exactly was.. that???"

Movies movies
The Lincoln Film center just published the 50 best of 2006 here. I have to say I like this new list. I would take Brokeback mountain out of the 10 first but the rest is pretty ok.
And here. an interview with Lars von Trier.

Being you
I was bored today for a bit, I looked around, I went to the web of the old wise monster. I found something I liked and I wanted to share.
Genuine progress in moving the ball of human knowledge & understanding forward does not come from the work you do when you pretend to be someone you're not.
It comes from you being you.
I swear i would tell you if this wasn't true.
If there was a slick, intellectual, simplistic way to go forward i swear i would not hold back the knowledge of it from you.
There isn't.
When you try to be who you aren't into what inner resevoir are you reaching?
When you put your hand down into a yourself that doesn't exist, with what will it return?
There is one way forward.
It occurs inside you.
You become more of who you are.
You step forward on the feet that are yours.
You feel the bottom of whatever pool you walk into and tell us on the shore what only you know.
Read the whole entry here.

Brown Sisters

(click on the image if you want to see it bigger)
Richard Nixon has been photographing his wife and her 3 sisters once a year for 25 years now.
Begun in 1975, Nixon's annual group portraits of the artist's wife Bebe and her three sisters comprise his most well-known series. Collectively, they represent a distinct take on the tradition of portraiture for their rigorous simplicity in mode of conception and overall romantic beauty. Through this picture-history of the four Brown siblings, Nixon chronicles, almost methodically, slivers in time of the dramatic, ever-changing aging process by way of which familiarity and permanence may also be found.
The 25 pictures are hanging in the MOMA, or on this website.

Gracies!

Pherotones

This is one of those wonderful inventions that... in a few months we will wonder how could we live without it... how could we attract anyone without them? Pherotones, ring tones to attract the opposite sex. And scientifically tested, of course... (estos americanos estan locos... eh mateo?)
