Mandala
We went to see the Kalachakra Mandala, the world's largest mandala constructed in Barcelona for World peace.
The word "mandala" means circle in Sanskrit and is the symbolic and archetypal representation of the universe according to ancient Buddist cosmological tradition. In the mandala, the most important features of the universe and its content are represented by a series of concentric geometrical figures traced by monks using colored sand and begin with a ritual of inspiration and concentration.
The monks will throw the colored sand of the mandala into the sea in the next few days, because one of the most important aspects on the creation of the mandala is its transitory nature, a very common feature in Buddhist philosophy that reminds us that nothing lasts forever.
