We were asked to create a small invite for the office Halloween party. We went around and ask people if they were going to come dressed up and most of them said they didn't have a costume. To defeat that lame excuse we came up with a small little book that was distributed to all employees, tens of costumes that could be made with office supplies and a little bit of imagination.

The New York Times came to us to create a small-space ad to advertise National Poetry Month and Poem in Your Pocket Day, and we came up with a series of ads, that you can see here. These were the opening 4 color full page that ran on the New York Times, the National Poetry day.

Since the image is quite small, you can read the poems here.

In August 2008 I started teaching art in Shanghai. My students were mostly Asian: Korean, Japanese and Chinese mainly. Some of them had just arrived to Shanghai and barely spoke any English, and the case was often the same for their parents. One of the main problems of the school was the lack of parents participation in school activities.
From the art class, I developed a online campaign for the parents to be able to follow what was going on in the classroom and find the materials we were discussing in class. In order to do that I created a multi-lingual blog, with daily updates that were sent to the parents that subscribed via email, where they could participate by leaving comments. A flickr account that served as the work archive, connected to the blog. I also joined the ning network of art teachers in Asia, to share work, ideas and collaborations with other schools all over Asia, and finally I compiled the best of the year's work on an e-book that could be easily and freely downloaded and viewed on any computer.

In December 2006 I arrived in India, a trip that was supposed to last a month, ended up lasting eight. I fell in love with the place, the culture and specially the people. I normally don't take pictures of people, I feel as if somehow I am stealing part of their souls, as if I am taking away some innocence that may not go back. But after living in Varanasi for 5 months, and drinking many chais with them, my basic compact camera became just a way of recording friends, a tiny toy, or like in the case of Neepa the woman on the first picture of the series, her first picture ever.

A coworker at Lowe suffered from thyroid cancer. Once she was fine, she started a campaign to raise awarness and collect funds. We contributed to her cause by producing the creative. A simple poster an film to talk to people about that unknown cancer that was affecting more and more women. Preventing and detecting it soon was as easy as asking the doctor to check your neck.
